To Hell & Back Meatloaf Tribute & Brother in Arms The UKs No. 1 Dire Straits Tribute
MUSIC DUO DO THE 'TIMEWARP' AGAIN!
A duo from Chorley will be reunited on stage for the first time in over 10 years when they play together as their pop idols in a concert on Saturday 6 September at the Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn.
Euxton’s Dean Torkington and Brian Healles from Collingwood are better known to local audiences in their stage guises, Meat Loaf and Dire Straits but when they first got together in 1992 Dean was playing in a regular Blues band that was going nowhere and Brian had ambitions of becoming a professional golfer. It was 1992 that they formed one of Lancashires most popular music/comedy duos "Timewarp" For Dean, their forthcoming concert will be a trip down memory lane, as it was Brian who first launched his career when he suggested that he would be a dead ringer for Meat Loaf and invited him to have a look in his dressing up box. ‘I remember that the TV programme Stars in the Eyes was just getting to be really popular and it was Brian’s idea to develop an act to include multiple costumed tributes. At one time we did a Rocky Horror duet and you only imagine what a sight we looked in stockings, basques and suspenders. Somebody said I looked like a burst teabag! We tributed all the stars including Elton John , Meat Loaf, Blues Brothers and even Tina Turner! We had a cult following especially in Colne, Nelson, Burnley and Blackburn. At our peak everyone was booking "Timewarp" and back then we were averaging 5 shows a week.' In a 4 year partnership the duo appeared on TV and supported many big names both home and abroad. It was from there that the artists went their separate ways to concentrate on their careers. Dean became successful with his Meat Loaf tribute, To Hell & Back , and Brian moved away, coming back after 4 years with Brother in Arms, his tribute to Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler. Thankfully, there will be no cross dressing when they appear at the Thwaites Empire Theatre on Saturday 6 September.
This will be the first time they have appeared together as the tribute artists they have become famous for.

I suppose this is best described as a romantic comedy. It charts the lives of the Stott family in Newcastle from the 3rd September 1939 until V.E. Day in 1945.
Each scene coincides with a significant event during the war, but focuses on the lives of the Stotts, rather than world events.
The play is narrated by Helen Stott, who is in her late 20s, early 30s and overly concerned about her appearance. Helen has a younger sister, Joyce, whose boyfriend, Eric, is in the army. Eric’s friend, Norman, also in the army, falls for Helen. Mr Stott is a shipbuilder, part-time fireman, pianist and member of the communist party. Mrs Stott is a devout catholic, and Grandad is more concerned about his dead whippet than the war.

“The Storytellers Theatre Company” adaptation of this Classic Victorian tale has all the ingredients necessary to captivate audiences both young and old alike. It follows the fortunes of ‘Oliver’, a young orphan with a mysterious past on an enthralling journey from the horrors of the workhouse, to the undertakers shop and on through the back streets of London.
This all time classic tale not only tells the story of ‘Oliver’, ‘Fagin’, ‘Nancy’ and the evil ‘Bill Sykes’ but also paints a picture of the Victorian underworld in London as Dickens knew it. Using a full theatre setting ‘The Storytellers’ re-tell the past as if it were today. With full Filmatic underscoring this production is bound to enthral all who watch. Powerful, dramatic and exciting are words too light to describe this production.
